Barking ……Some tips from Vicky Williams
ETTs are known to bark now and again ! Club member Vicky Williams offers a few tips based on her own experience.
Spend a bit of time working out what triggers the barking, and then go back to basic puppy bark training. Distract with a different command and reward the completion of the other command. 100% consistency… it’s usually the owner that gives up on training before the dog! Eventually you will have a dog completing the other command every time it thinks about barking. Help the dog out, it’s a terrier. I have opaque film on the lower parts of windows where my dogs can see triggers. They cannot bark and listen at the same time… so if they cannot see the trigger (a postman for instance), they have to be quiet to hear where it is. This reduces barking but won’t fix it on its own.
